Welcome to the Pomona Computer Architecture Lab (PCAL)!

Based at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, the Pomona Computer Architecture Lab (PCAL) is an undergraduate research group run by Prof. Sam Thomas.

Lab Mission

Our goal is to design and improve systems related to computer architecture: including (but not limited to) the systems that we use to simulate computer architecture, the way we design systems for emerging architectures, how our interfaces to various components informs our system design decisions, how to develop secure computer architecture systems, how to develop systems for secure computer architectures, etc…

On This Site

The purpose of this site is to show off the awesome work that our student members are doing. Under Members you will find short blurbs that they have written about themselves, not just as members of the lab, but their other interests and experiences as Pomona students! The News section is maintained by Prof. Thomas with short updates of the current happenings in the lab. As our group publishes work, they will appear in the Publications tab, but publication is far from the only successful outcome of student research. As such, students in the group will share about their experiences with short Blog Posts at the end of major milestones in their projects and academic calendar.

Getting Involved

If you are a student in the Claremont Consortium interested in doing a research project (either as an independent study or as a paid RA positions during the semester and/or summer), please reach out to samuel.thomas@pomona.edu. In your research project, you can expect to read papers at the state-of-the-art in the subject, design experiments to answer relevant research questions, implement systems and test suites to model proposed directions, and more!

If you are outside the consortium and are looking for talented students to participate in internships, REUs, or other research/internship-related opportunities, please reach out to samuel.thomas@pomona.edu for recommmendations. Otherwise, feel free to connect to talk about ways that our groups may be able to collaborate!
